Saturday, June 13, 2009 - Kenya Time
So... What time is it anyway? Our layover in Paris was so quick because of the delays in Atlanta that we didn't even have time to walk through a souvenir shop to pick up something with the Eiffel tower on it. The airport transportation between terminals was by bus so we loaded up (it was almost like that youtube video of everyone cramming and being crammed into a train), made it to the terminal, (side note: they speak a lot of French in Paris, not that that was a surprise but their English was hard to understand through such a thick accent) anyway we boarded and took off for Nairobi. Had to fill out swine flu information form along with Visa (why do I keep buying single entry visas? why wouldn't I but a multi-visit?) and picked up luggage (one bag missing and of course we only checked one bag so that guy is without anything). Evidently it never even made it on to the plane to Paris so it was still sitting in Atlanta. He filled out a bag claim form and it will or should arrive on Sunday and Moses (410) will arrange to pick it up and get it to Segera. Lines for money exchange and a quick stop into the safaricom shop to buy some minutes for my phone. It was great seeing Kennedy as one of our drivers. That is always a treat. And we headed to the Presbyterian Guest House. Unpacked, ate a late dinner they had for us and then a quick meeting with the team and then headed to the rooms. I stopped by the front desk and - yes, facebook rocks - I signed into facebook from the front desk in Kenya Africa and updated my facebook status. Too cool. We should have internet access at the Sportsman's Arms in Nanyuki and I will try to update again and even post these updates. A re-sort of the luggage (the first of many) and a hot (oh, what an unexpected pleasure that was) shower. Set the alarm on the watch (double checked to make sure the time was set correctly for Africa time), dropped the mosquito net and I'm fading fast. More tomorrow.
Love reading your posts - it is almost like you are sitting here talking to me - i wish you were! soon enough... soon enough! zach got off this morning for his big beach adventure and me, em and hopie are headed to Bigstuf and PCB to check on Cait and the choir. Can't wait to see her! By now you should be back at the Sportsmans Arms - eating dinner, having a soda on 410 :) Hope you had a GREAT day. Love you so!!!
